Our backpacking rental is a one-stop-shop to rent backpacking gear. We provide all of the options you need to customize a backpacking kit for a long weekend or a multi-week adventure. We carefully selected our gear to ensure you have the best possible experience. We have lightweight options to keep your pack as light as possible, and we offer many accessories to round out your experience. Simply walk through the form customization to select the products you want on what days, and we’ll pack up your rental.

Rental Details

Our backpacking rental includes everything you need for the perfect backpacking trip. If you only need one or two items to round out your pack, you can choose only those on the form as well. No matter what you need, our carefully selected gear makes it easy for you to go on a backpacking adventure. In fact, we have options to keep your backpack’s base weight under 13 lbs! We offer many accessories as well, eliminating the need to buy extra gear.

Backpacks:

  • REI Flash 55 Pack. 55 liter capacity, rain cover included, great for 1-4 night trips, lightest option
  • Osprey Atmos AG 65 Pack. 65 liter capacity, rain cover included, great for longer trips or when you need more space

Sleeping gear:

  • Hennessy Hammock Expedition. Pack size: 7 x 10 inches, rain fly, bug net, and guylines included
  • Kelty Salida 2 Tent. Packed size: 13 x 15 inches
  • REI Helio Down 30 Sleeping Bag. 30 degree rating, comfortable down to 30-45 degrees
  • Insulated Static V Lite Sleeping Pad. Dimensions: 72 x 23 x 2.5 inches, pack size: 5 x 8 inches, R value: 4.4; this option is more compact, warmer, but a little heavier
  • Therm-a-Rest Z Lite Sleeping Pad. Dimensions: 72 x 20 x 0.75 inches, pack Size: 20 x 5.5 x 5 inches, R value: 2.6; this option is lighter and more affordable; foldable instead of inflatable

Accessories:

  • Platypus 2 Liter Water Filter Kit. Filters 1.5 liters per minute, taste-free reservoirs and silicone hoses, BPA free
  • Platypus 2 Liter Water Reservoir. Stay hydrated on the trail, BPA & taste free
  • Solo Stove Cooking System. Solo Stove alcohol burner; Solo Stove stand and windscreen can also be used to burn twigs if out of fuel; everything fits neatly within the Solo Stove Pot 900 – food grade stainless steel pot

Summer

List some of your favorite outdoor activities.

We enjoy hiking, car camping, mountain biking, backpacking, and more. We love taking our telescope up to Newport State Park, which is one of the few dark sky parks in the Midwest and has great views of Jupiter, Saturn, and the Andromeda galaxy. It's definitely an experience we would recommend!

What was your favorite outdoor experience?

Our team's favorite outdoor experiences are varied, and we have loved car camping across Yellowstone, hiking in Banff National Park, and mountain biking in Moab.
